Yankee overkill

Tuesday morning had us up at 4.00am.We had to be at the airport at 5.00am[ short honeymoon, 2 days] . The Army had scheduled Tim for a 4 day secret seminar in Utah, no partners to attend this one. So it was just me now against the U.S. immigration bureaucracy.. Remind me to never again complain about or Gov. Services. We make the Yanks look foolish.

I started with the medical..Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhsh, this is YUK.... off to an STD clinic to be examined " down there' for nastier that might be growing, blood for the aids clinic and many other nasties they are looking for, and then the injections, measles, mumps, rubella, T.B. hib,hep abc,influenza,varicella,rotavirus,zoster and several others, Well, didn't they do a number on me????? I was ill and still having appointments at places all over this city , when Tim got home on Sat. I could barely walk, handed the keys to the truck over to him and said" get me home and put me to bed"...and that wasn't honeymoon talk .......

This has been a normal week, Tim off to work, me re-organising a bachelor pad into married quarters, going to more Gov. Dept's to get Americanised, planting some window boxes, and preparing a garden bed. Attended my first Lions meeting at the Holiday Inn at the airport. These Texas Lions are so noisy , compared to our sedate Narooma and Tahmoor Lions.. Lots of jokes and Bonn hominie. A bit hard to choose which Club to join as there are more than a dozen in El Paso.

The 8th of March was memorable , not just for our wedding.. It was also the day Tim received the Melchizedek Priesthood. His military Chaplin at Fort Bliss asked him if he would like him to come over to our Chapel for the Service and conduct his ordination which Tim of course agreed to. They have been working closely together for these past months and Major Horton has also been communicating with me in OZ. from time to time. So I now have a husband who is also an Elder and gave me my first blessing on Sunday evening.. A beautiful and memorable day for us both and all who spent it with us.

We are leaving for the Sierra Nevada's this afternoon [ the Rockie's] about 9,000ft above sea level, my first trip into the snow country around Cloud croft in New Mexico. What an adventure ..and loving company into the bargain. More detail next week..
